About your policy
  • If you have an existing medical condition (including pregnancy), or if you are 70 years of age or over at the time the Certificate of Insurance is to be issued, a Travellers Medical Appraisal Form must be completed and submitted for approval by QBE Insurance prior to the issue of the Certificate of Insurance. Cover may also be available for an existing medical condition of a non travelling relative or business partner.
  • If you require cover for an existing medical condition you cannot purchase insurance more than 12 months prior to travel.
  • The policy ends once you have returned to your normal place of residence within Australia.
  • Your children, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces and nephews are automatically covered free of charge under this policy, providing they are travelling with you for the entire duration of your trip and at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued are either: 18 years of age or under; or between the age of 18 and 24 years, engaged in full-time study and not married or living in a de facto relationship.
  • Sporting Activities - Most amateur sports are covered at no additional charge. eg Scuba diving, Cycling, Surfing, Bungee jumping, Paragliding, White water rafting. Snow Sports cover is available at an additional cost.
  • The terms and conditions of the policy are subject to the laws of the Australian state or territory where the Certificate of Insurance is issued. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of that state or territory.
Your duty of disclosure
Before you enter into an insurance contract, you have a duty of disclosure under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984.

If we ask you questions that are relevant to our decision to insure you and on what terms, you must tell us anything that you know and that a reasonable person in the circumstances would include in answering the questions.

You have this duty until we agree to insure you.

If you do not tell us something
If you do not tell us anything you are required to tell us, we may cancel your contract or reduce the amount we will pay you if you make a claim, or both. If your failure to tell us is fraudulent, we may refuse to pay a claim and treat the contract as if it never existed.
Electronic communication
By applying online you agree to receive quotation, medical and policy documentation electronically for all travellers on the quote/policy to the email address you provide.

When we say personal information we may also mean sensitive information such as health information that's relevant to us issuing, administering or managing products or providing services and the terms on which we will do these things. We use personal information to issue, administer and manage products and provide services. We may share your information with other QBE Group companies, our authorised representatives and service providers, each of which may be based outside of Australia.

By giving us personal information you consent to us collecting, disclosing, storing and using it in accordance with our Privacy Policy. If you give us someone else's personal information you confirm you've obtained their consent to do so.

If you don't provide all of the personal information we've requested we may be unable to issue, administer or manage products or provide services.
